Ammunition, a gun and three suspected stolen vehicles were seized when police executed a warrant in the Black Country.

A man tried to flee a unit on an industrial estate off Watery Lane, Willenhall, on Monday in a suspected stolen vehicle.

Cannabis, a knife, cash and mobile phones were found in one vehicle, and a firearm and ammunition in a second.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested and released on police bail pending further inquiries.

He was held on suspicion of possession of class B drugs, possession of an offensive weapon, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm.

Officers executed a warrant at the unit acting on intelligence, West Midlands Police said.

Forensic tests were being carried out to check if the firearm, seized after a search of the second vehicle, was "viable".
