A large safe has been stolen from a coffee shop in the high street of the Isle of Man's capital, police have said.

The burglary at Costa Coffee in Strand Street happened at about 02:00 on Tuesday.

Police said the white safe was "likely to have taken some effort to move" before it was transported from the site using a silver or grey Honda Jazz.

A spokesman for the force said: "Any attempts to move or access the safe would have required the use of power tools which would have caused significant noise."

Police have urged anyone in the area at the time who heard the noise or has dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
