A young cricketer who bowled out six players in a row in one over during a match has been featured in this year's 'bible' of the sport as a result.

Oliver Whitehouse took the six wickets playing for Bromsgrove Cricket Club against Cookhill in an under-12s game, in June 2023.

To be mentioned in the 2024 Wisden Cricketers' Almanack came as a shock, said the now 13-year-old.

"All the history, and I'm part of it now, it can't be erased, it's a massive honour. People dream about being part of this book," he said.

Across two overs, Oliver managed to bowl out eight players without giving a single run away.

His father Tim said it was "incredible" to have his son mentioned in the "massive publication".

His mother Pippa said she was "so excited and proud" when she realised his feat had been included.

"Ollie and his friends, I don't think they realise the magnitude of it, but for someone from my generation, it's certainly something very special," said Mr Whitehouse said.

Oliver is "immortal" now, he said, explaining that he was big and strong for his age, which helped with spin bowling.

Nick Husbands, chairman of Bromsgrove Cricket Club said he was "slightly envious" that he never made Wisden during his playing career.

What Ollie achieved was "unbelievable," said Mr Husbands, who believes it must surely be a one-off.

"Jimmy Anderson, just retiring from cricket now, if you give him a ball, and asked him to hit the stumps six times in a row, I'm not sure he would do it," he said.

"So to do that, at his age, with a batsman in front of you, phenomenal."
