Floating bridge closed for a week for repairs

The Isle of Wight's chain ferry will halt crossings for a week to carry out maintenance and repairs.
Floating Bridge 6, which crosses the River Medina between Cowes and East Cowes, will be out of action from Monday to Friday.
Operator Isle of Wight Council said the September refit included replacing drive chains, servicing guidewheels, changing hydraulic oil and remedial works to the prows.
A replacement launch service will be available for foot passengers and cyclists.
The council voted last year to replace the troubled £3.5m chain ferry, which has been plagued with issues since being installed in 2017.
The river crossing saves an 11-mile round trip by road.
