Police in Leicester are appealing for witnesses after a woman was found injured in a busy road.

Officers were called to Corporation Road at about 14:55 BST on Sunday, where they found the woman - who is in her 30s - at the scene.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said the woman "was riding a pedal bike, but this was not at the scene when police arrived".

She was taken to hospital, where she is currently in a critical condition.

"It is not clear at the moment what has happened in the moments leading up to the woman sustaining her injuries and extensive enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances," police said in a statement.
