A light aircraft has crashed in Worcestershire, prompting an official investigation into the circumstances.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) confirmed it was probing an incident that happened near Defford on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the AAIB said: “A team of inspectors has been sent to the accident site to gather evidence.”

Police and fire and rescue operatives also attended Defford Croft Farm Airfield, where a large red tent was erected.

Emergency services have been contacted by the BBC for confirmation of the condition of the occupant or occupants of the craft.
