Police seized the firearm, components and printer in a raid on Igor Ciesielski's home in May

A man has been jailed for two years for using a 3D printer to make a gun and ammunition.

Police raided the home of Igor Ciesielski in Stoke-on Trent after he bought items from an international firearms retailer.

Officers seized a 3D printer, a printed gun and around 30 printed firearms components at the 21-year-old's address in Bentilee.

Ciesielski admitted to manufacturing a prohibited weapon and possessing ammunition parts with intent to manufacture and was sentenced at the city's crown court on Tuesday.

The weapons and ammunition, seized during the raid on Sunday 11 May, could have caused "serious harm," said Det Con Andrew Percy from Staffordshire Police.

"I am glad Ciesielski has received a custodial sentence for his offending," he added.
