People are being asked to take part in a survey about dogs and horses on beaches.

Currently the animals are banned from Alderney beaches between 1 June and 15 September, and the General Services Committee would like to hear from both dog owners and non-dog owners.

The survey will run for three weeks and look into if the current ban should remain or if certain beaches should allow dogs all year.

It can be completed online or paper copies can be collected from the General Office at the Island Hall.

Iain MacFarlane, chair of the committee, said: "In recognition of the recent social media polls and discussion around this subject, we felt it was the right approach to conduct a survey to collect up to date information from the community."

He added: "The information we have on file was collected over a decade ago, and so this survey is a great opportunity to seek the public's view on something which is evidently a topic of interest, so I would encourage everyone to respond to the survey."
