Date set for trial of man accused of city murder

A date has been set for the trial of a man charged with murder following a fatal stabbing.

Elvis Vickers, 46, of Mousehold Street, Norwich, appeared at the city's crown court via video link on Tuesday.

He has been accused of the murder of Abdulkadar Chadli, 48, who was found fatally injured in Mousehold Street at about 22:15 GMT on Friday 1 November.

Mr Vickers - who spoke only to confirm his name - was told he will go on trial in March 2025. He was remanded in custody.

Mr Chadli was pronounced dead at the scene. An initial post-mortem examination found his death was consistent with a stab wound to the chest.

A 37-year-old man arrested in connection with the stabbing has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
