A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to rape a woman in Droitwich.

The attack happened at about 22:40 GMT on Monday when a 51-year-old woman was followed by a man along Ombersley Way.

Police say the man grabbed the woman and tried to pull at her clothing.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape.

Officers want to speak to anyone who can help with the investigation.

Det Insp Sharon Wallace-Rathmel said: "It’s believed a white man, of slim build with broad shoulders, appeared from an alleyway which connects to Ombersley Way from Wey Close around the time of the incident and we’re keen to speak to anyone who may have seen him. He was wearing dark clothing and a face covering.

"Regular patrols are continuing to be carried out in the area, and I would encourage anyone concerned to speak to an officer."
