The mother of missing Jack O'Sullivan has recalled the "vivid" final moments she spent with her son before he disappeared more than seven months ago.

Catherine O'Sullivan appeared on the BBC's Crimewatch Live as part of a renewed appeal for information.

Mr O'Sullivan has not been seen since 2 March, after he left a house party in the early hours of the morning in the Hotwells area of Bristol.

"I have to live with that tiny little bit of hope that it's all going to be ok," Mrs O'Sullivan told the programme.

Searches for the missing 22-year-old student have been ongoing since he vanished, with more than 70,000 people joining a Facebook group dedicated to finding him.

In an interview with Crimewatch Mrs O'Sullivan recalled the last time she saw her son, as he gave her a lift to meet friends.

"[He was] full of laughter, full of banter, gave me a kiss," she said. "That moment is fixed in my mind because he had a big smile on his face."

"Some days you cope better than others - I think probably the strain that we're under at times can become overwhelming but somehow we keep the fight up because that's what Jack would do," she added.

"I can't let him down, and I have to get an answer."

Police have released CCTV of the last likely sightings of Mr O'Sullivan

Avon and Somerset Police say the last confirmed sighting of Mr O'Sullivan was at 03:38 GMT walking down the Bennett Way slip road back in the direction of Bristol city centre.

He wearing khaki green quilted Barbour jacket, a beige woollen jumper, navy chinos and brown shoes with a white sole.

Det Insp Chidgey from Avon and Somerset Police told Crimewatch Live that police are "sure that he was minded to make his way home" after he left the party.

He added that Mr O'Sullivan's family, who have filed an official complaint over the police handling of the case, had shown "tremendous resilience".

In a bid to jog people's memory of the 2 March he also told the BBC: "It was a particularly cold night after a mild week in Bristol and it snowed, so it would have been very cold, it was icy, and there was snow on the ground.

"Bristol City played Cardiff that afternoon, the day that Jack was last seen, so we're hoping that those two events might trigger something for somebody to come forward and provide us with some additional information."

Anyone with information relating to Mr O'Sullivan's disappearance, including dashcam or doorbell footage, can contact BBC's Crimewatch Live by calling 08000 468 999.
