Volunteers are being sought to support patients in Lincoln County Hospital this winter.

Bosses said one of the roles would involve being based in the emergency department and providing "a wide range of information and signposting" to patients and their families.

Other roles, elsewhere in the hospital, include 'ward buddy' and 'meet and greet' volunteers.

A recruitment day will be held from 12:00 BST to 16:00 BST on 18 October, with members of the Voluntary Services Team available to help over 18s apply for positions.

Manager Andy Tysoe said: “Our long term goal is to have a volunteer every day on every ward. To achieve this, we need to recruit many more volunteers at all of our sites.

"My team of staff and volunteers are looking forward to meeting people who would like to come and join our current team of committed, caring local volunteers and play an important part in continuing to improve the experience of our patients and visitors in the future.”

United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, said it was looking for "caring, compassionate people" who have at least four hours a week free.

Prospective volunteers should also be able to commit to a minimum of six months, it added.
