'I don't know what retirement means' - boxer, 85

An 85-year-old boxer from Surrey is set to continue his sporting career with a fight in July.

Brian Dossett is due to compete against a local opponent in three two-minute rounds at Guildford Spectrum on 11 July.

Mr Dossett told BBC Radio Surrey that he has some medical issues including "a replaced knee, gout, prostrate trouble, acid reflux, gall bladder", but said: "I try to keep myself above all of them."

"I don't know what retirement is and I don't want to," he said.

When asked about ageing, Mr Dossett said: "I don't think old, I think young.

"It's not the years we live, it's how we live them."

Mr Dossett says he has trained in a combination of martial arts throughout his life.

"I've got two families, my martial arts family and my domestic family," he said.

The fight will be taking place to raise money for charity.
