A pedestrian has been seriously hurt after he was hit by a car in a North Yorkshire market town.

The man, in his 30s, remains in hospital after a collision involving a red Range Rover on Railway Street on Friday at 22:10 GMT.

North Yorkshire Police said a woman in her 70s had been arrested in connection with the crash, which occurred by the A684 Harmby Road junction with Yoredale Avenue.

The force has asked witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
