Investigators have been unable to determine the cause of a fire in which a man in his 30s died.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in a ground-floor flat in Rovings Drive, Spondon, Derby, at about 07:30 GMT on Thursday.
The man was rescued from the property but died at the scene.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a joint police and fire inquiry found that while multiple possible causes were identified, "none could be proven to an acceptable level of certainty".
In a statement, the fire service added: "The investigation, which was conducted over two days, has therefore been recorded as undetermined.
"Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service would once again like to extend the thoughts and sympathy of everyone in the service to the family and friends of the deceased at this distressing time."
