Northern rail services disrupted over lack of staff

Rail services in north-west England have been disrupted following a lack of train crews, the Northern rail operator has said.

Services from stations in Manchester, Chester and Preston will be affected throughout Sunday.

A Northern representative urged commuters to check journey schedules before travelling.

The firm said last trains of the day "may be earlier than usual and may be cancelled at short notice”.

The following services have been affected:

  • Manchester Piccadilly - Stoke-On-Trent

  • Manchester Victoria - Chester

  • Manchester Victoria - Stalybridge

  • Preston - Colne
