A 68-year-old man has died in a three-vehicle crash on the M25.
Essex Police was called to the anti-clockwise carriageway of the motorway between junction 27, near Epping, and junction 28, near Brentwood, at about 11:00 GMT today.
Two other people were taken to hospital.
Police have asked anyone who has dashcam footage of the incident to get in touch and help them with their investigation.
The M25 was closed in both directions while emergency services were at the scene.
The motorway has since been reopened.
A spokesperson for National Highways East said: "There is still approximately 2.5 miles of congestion on approach [at about 17:30 GMT]. Please allow extra time for the remaining residual delays to clear."
