Classroom plan for pupils with behavioural issues

The classrooms will be built north of the existing school buildings
- Published
Two new classrooms to accommodate pupils with behavioural issues are planned at a school in West Yorkshire.
Calderdale Council has applied for permission to erect a five-bay modular building at Calder High School, on Brier Hay Lane, in Mytholmroyd.
The building would house the two classrooms, a lobby, storage space and toilets.
It would provide space for up to 24 pupils, aged between 11 and 16, and eight members of staff.
The proposals also include associated security fencing and some disabled parking spaces.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the planning application states the building would "improve education provision and support creating and safeguarding opportunities for safe, healthy, fulfilling and active lifestyles".
It will be sited to the north of the existing school buildings.
"The amount of development is necessary to support the needs and expansion of the school and is considered appropriate," the application adds.
The numbers of pupils would not be a sufficient enough to disturb neighbours, the application added.
No date has been set for the application to be considered.
