Chemical leak exercise set for Humber Bridge
- Published
An exercise to test emergency services' response to a chemical leak is due to take place near the Humber Bridge on Tuesday.
Visitors to the Humber Bridge Country Park may see the exercise which organisers said would be "extremely lifelike" and would include role-play of people having been injured.
The emergency response training will be taking place in the country park car park and will be based around a hypothetical chemical leak at a running event.
Andrew Arundel, chief operating officer at the Humber Bridge, urged people "not to be alarmed", but to understand that the exercise taking place is "entirely safe to those taking part and everyone else in the vicinity".
Mr Arundel added: "Due to its location, the magnitude of the Humber Bridge and the presence of traffic, it is no surprise occasionally we are asked to host such exercises and we are very happy to do so as part of our partnership working with the emergency services."
He said there would be no disruption to traffic on or near to the bridge.
The exercise is being conducted by Humberside Fire & Rescue, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and Humberside Police.
Emergency services are due to arrive at the Humber Bridge Car Park at about 08:00 GMT and the full exercise is set to begin at about 10:30.
