The family of a man who died after being hit by a car say they "cannot express in words our devastation".
Peter Brewin, 60, died when he was struck by a grey Skoda Fabia in Meltham Mills Road, in Meltham, on Friday.
Mr Brewin, who had recently retired, was pronounced dead at the scene while a female pedestrian, who was also hit by the car, suffered minor injuries, West Yorkshire Police said.
A 33-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Mr Brewin's family said in a statement: "Peter was looking forward to a long and active retirement, after having stopped work in April 2025.
"He loved walking, cycling and camping with his partner, was a regular at Huddersfield Parkrun and played five-a-side football.
"He was also fond of a beer and a chat at the bar of the Monkey Club in Armitage Bridge and helped with running the club."
They added that he could "fix anything and would give his time and help to anyone".
"He loved his family very much, he leaves behind his partner of 37 years, son, brother and parents. We cannot express in words our devastation at losing him," they said.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police.
