A new crossing will be built as part of £650,000 of safety improvements on a major road.

Between 2018 and 2023, 70 people were injured on the A5191 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire Council said.

Improvements to the road will include the crossing at the Mount Pleasant road junction as well as vehicle-activated signs to cut speeds.

They will cover a stretch of the road between its junction with the A5112 at Heathgates island and the junction with the A458 at Wyle Cop.

Shropshire Council was given the funding from the Department for Transport's Safer Roads Fund.
