A scarecrow made by children has gone missing from a primary school.

Ben the scarecrow was created by pupils at Anlaby Primary School, as part of the West Hull Villages Scarecrow Hunt.

It was placed outside the school on Friday, but was seen being carried away along First Lane, towards Hessle, on Sunday at about 20:00 BST.

Gemma Greer, the school's acting head teacher, said the children had given up their lunchtime and "worked really hard" on making scarecrows.

"It's a bit disappointing he has disappeared because the children were really excited about putting him out," she added.

"I hope someone will do the right thing and bring him back."

The Friends of Anlaby Primary School have appealed for the scarecrow's return.

In a post on Facebook, the group said: "Have you seen Ben? The children were very upset this morning to see he was missing."

The scarecrow hunt includes locations in Anlaby, Willerby, Kirk Ella and west Hull. Organisers are also staging a craft fair, external at Anlaby Park Community Library on Saturday, from 10:00 BST to 14:00.
