E-scooter riding teenagers were described by police as "intimidating"

Drones have been used in Worcestershire to tackle a rise in "intimidating" masked teenagers riding e-scooters, police have said.

Ch Const Richard Cooper of West Mercia Police said the technology had been used for "intelligence gathering" specifically in the Wyre Forest area.

He made the comments at a meeting of Worcestershire County Council on Thursday, where Reform councillor Jenny Shaw said some residents were being "terrorised".

She said: "For too long residents have been plagued by these e-scooter riders, who are wearing masks and chasing after people."

Shaw added: "We've had instances where residents have had to knock on the doors of houses, to seek help."

She asked the officer whether there were plans to "increase patrols in Wyre Forest" to tackle the issue.

He responded: "I do agree, it is intimidating. There is a plan, specifically in the Wyre Forest, to address this issue."
