A man convicted of raping a woman after smoking cannabis has been jailed.

John Davis, 22, of Meadow Way, Old Leake, was convicted of two charges of rape following a trial at Lincoln Crown Court in July.

He was sentenced to five years imprisonment at the same court on Thursday.

The court heard Davis made his victim perform oral sex on him before penetrating her.

Both offences occurred in June 2022.

Passing sentence, Judge Simon Hirst told Davis there were a number of aggravating factors in the case.

"First of all you were under the influence of drink and drugs.

"Secondly, there was an element of detention in this case.

"You would not allow her to leave. You held her face while you tried to kiss her," he said.

"Set against that you are man with no previous convictions," the judge added.

"You are of positive good character, people speak well of you."
