Police have named a couple who were found dead at their home in Greenock.

Concerns for Alison McLaughlin, 53, and husband Neil, 57, were reported to officers on Friday evening while they were in the Banff Road property.

Their deaths are being treated as unexplained and police said no information suggests anyone else was involved.

The force said a police presence will continue in the area while investigations are carried out.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Det Insp Gordon Smith said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Neil and Alison. We are providing their families with specialist support at this incredibly difficult time. They have asked for privacy.

“At this time we have no information to suggest anyone else is involved in connection with the deaths and there is no risk to the wider public.
