Police investigating reports a player was racially abused by a spectator during a York City football match in July have said there was no evidence of a hate crime.
Salford City's pre-season friendly at York was abandoned on 11 July after the alleged incident in the 85th minute and a 23-year-old man from York was later arrested.
North Yorkshire Police said it had worked with "the person reporting, both clubs and fans to gather evidence".
The force said: "Based on these findings, our officers are satisfied that no offences have occurred."
It added: "Hate crime has no place within football, and it will not be tolerated.
"Nobody should be subject to any form of abuse.
"We will continue to work closely with York City Football Club to take a zero-tolerance approach, ensuring that any incident is fully investigated."
At the time, York City said it was an "extremely distressing evening" and that any supporter found guilty of racial abuse would face the strongest possible sanctions from the club.
