'We bought the barn we got married in to save it'

Becky and Tom Pook tied the knot at Pimhill Barn, in 2019

A couple have stepped in to save the historic wedding venue where they tied the knot.
Becky and Tom Pook got married at Pimhill Barn, near Shrewsbury, in 2019. Now, six years later, they've taken over the running of the 16th Century venue after finding out it was at risk of closing.
The barn, which dates back to 1584, has hosted hundreds of weddings since it was renovated in 2011.
Mr Pook said they never imagined owning the venue, but "couldn't see it shutting down" and decided to take on the challenge to save it.
"We want as many people to experience the day we had here as possible and if they have half as much enjoyment as we did they'll have a lovely day," he said.

Tom and Becky say all of their guests told them how stunning Pimhill Barn is during their special day
The couple only got married at Pimhill Barn by chance after another booking dropped out and it became available.
But the couple say they fell in love with it and want to give that feeling to other couples who want to follow in their footsteps.
"Even when I'm back here on my own I get that special feeling because it has lovely, warm bones." Becky says.
"People are always quite shocked when I give them a tour and tell them I got married here too."
'A pivotal role'
The venue, on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, also features a fully restored cottage for newlyweds who get married there, as well as multiple areas where couples can say their "I do's".
For Becky the idea of helping other brides and grooms celebrate their special day in the same place as her is a heartwarming one.
"It's so lovely to know that Pimhill will play such a pivotal role in their lives, like it did for us," she said.
"To know that that's going to stick with them as it did for us is really special."
The pair, who are taking bookings for 2026, say they are looking at converting some of the other barns on the property into accommodation to enable whole wedding parties to stay.
Pimhill Barn is hosting an open day on Sunday for prospective grooms and brides, who want to have a look around.
