Twelve men are set to appear at the High Court in Glasgow accused of a violent revenge plot in the city.

The crimes are said to have been sparked following the death of 32-year-old Omar Sadiq in Pollok on 15 September 2020.

Hashim Uddin, 32, was jailed for six years in 2021 after he admitted stabbing and killing his brother-in-law.

The indictment claims that 12 men - including the victim's brother Kashif Sadiq - conspired together and with others to assault and endanger the lives of "relatives and associates" of Uddin.

The trial will begin in August 2026 and is expected to last seven weeks.

Hashim Uddin admitted the culpable homicide of Omer Sadiq in Pollok last September

The 2021 trial at the High Court in Glasgow heard how Mr Sadiq had gone to Uddin's flat in Pollok with his wife, Uddin's sister, after it emerged Uddin was planning to leave his wife Iqraa Malik.

The couple brought a dog with them to the flat, which Uddin and his wife were unhappy about.

Uddin was heard yelling: "Who are you bringing a dog into my house?"

The court heard there was then an "altercation" between the men and Mr Sadiq was struck twice with a hunting knife.

After Mr Sadiq and his wife left the property, he discovered he was bleeding heavily.

He flagged down a passing police car for assistance and it was found he had two stab wounds.

He was rushed to hospital but never recovered.

Uddin was accused of murdering Mr Sadiq but prosecutors accepted his guilty plea to the lesser charge of culpable homicide.

The upcoming trial includes charges from between 15 September and 14 December 2020 and mainly features a number of addresses in Glasgow.

The attempted murder accusations list several alleged petrol bomb attacks.

There are also claims of bids to kill various named men in knife or machete assaults.

The indictment includes allegations of placing a tracking device on cars to try and monitor the movements of certain individuals, as well as accusations of setting vehicles on fire.

One of those fires is said to have spread to a garage of a house causing a woman and a young child to evacuate.

Kashif Sadiq, 33, Tony Khan, 58, Robert Daniel, 35, David Docherty, 36, David McShane, 39, Mitchell Sweeney, 24, William McNally, 42, Michael Kennaway, 33, James Blakely, 30, Anthony Robertson, 27, George Noon, 37, and James Bennett, 36, deny the accusations they each face.

The group had their attendance excused during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday and a trial date was fixed for August 2026.
