Westons Cider will build two buildings on their site in Herefordshire

  • Published

A cider company that employs more than 200 people has been given approval to expand its site.

Westons Cider will build two warehouses that cover half a hectare (1.2 acres) at its site in Much Marcle, Herefordshire, to store cider before distribution.

Twenty-four silos would also be built, each capable of storing 200,000 litres of liquid.

The firm said that a continuing rise in cider production and sales had led to a shortage of warehouse space, which meant it had to use facilities 25 miles away.

Much Marcle Parish Council did not object to the plans but asked for tree planting for the new development.

Herefordshire Council planning officer Josh Bailey said the extra storage facilities would make the business more efficient and allow for its continued growth.

Under the plans, the building would be restricted to storing and distributing cider.

This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
