A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspected grenade after it was found in a city canal.

A cordon was put in place in the Goodman Street area as officers investigated, with some residents evacuated.

The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended and removed the object, before carrying out a controlled explosion. The cordon has since been lifted.
