Three men who raped a woman after she got into their car thinking it was a taxi have been jailed.

CCTV footage showed the woman entering the vehicle on Ferensway in Hull city centre in July 2023 and being driven off, Humberside Police said.

During the course of the journey, Habibullah Ahmadzai, 18, Bakhtullah Safi, 18, and Kehan Safi, 26, carried out their attack.

After dropping the woman off they demanded a £20 "taxi fare" which she refused to pay.

Bakhtullah Safi, of Margaret Street, Hull, and Ahmadzai, of Wellsted Street, Hull, were both jailed for eight years after being convicted of rape following a trial at Hull Crown Court in February.

Kehan Safi, of Wellington Lane, Hull, was sent to prison for nine years after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing.

Det Con Ashley Webster described the men as "violent sexual predators who subjected a lone woman who was on her way home from a night out with friends, to an utterly horrific attack for their own sexual desires."

He added: “The woman has been incredibly brave throughout the investigation and court proceedings. What she has been through is something no-one should ever be put through, and whilst this result today will never take away the horrific experience and pain, I hope it goes someway in allowing her to heal as she continues to recover."
