Man's hobby converting old consoles becomes career

A former teaching assistant has turned his love for building retro gaming machines into a full time career.

Shaun Campbell, 35, from Wolverhampton, spends weeks creating his unique designs that have featured in NQ64 arcade bars across the UK.

"It feels really good because it's the exact thing I wanted to do. I just want to build things that people can enjoy," he said.

Since he started building machines about seven years ago, videos documenting his projects have racked up more than three million views on Instagram, which he said had "helped him to grow" as a creator.

His designs include a Game Boy which sits inside a wall, named the WallBoy, featuring at the NQ64 arcade bar in Digbeth, Birmingham.
