Jersey's public bus service will run from midday on Thursday during Storm Ciarán.

LibertyBus said services, which usually start at 05:25 GMT from some areas, would operate "as near to schedule as possible" into Wednesday evening, but would be suspended "if the weather continues to deteriorate".

Main coastal roads, including Victoria Avenue and Havre des Pas, will be closed to traffic from 17:30.

The company said people should be "prepared for potential delays" and cancellations due to potential road closures and fallen trees.

A Libertybus spokesperson said: "Safety is of the utmost importance to us and these cancellations have been made with this in mind.

"If you can make your journey earlier than usual we advise you to do so, please be patient if you are waiting for the bus and use our app to track your service."
