Police catch driver using shoelaces to move wipers

A motorist was pulled over for using shoelaces to manually operate the car's broken windscreen wipers, according to Staffordshire Police.
They targeted a Nissan Micra at an Esso garage on Watling Street in Cheslyn Hay after spotting the makeshift system in action, the force reported.
Posting on X, the Staffordshire Police Road Crime Team said while the wiping method was “creative”, it was "not acceptable".
A police spokesperson confirmed a car had been seized by officers following the incident shortly after 22:00 GMT on 23 November.
A 31-year-old man from Burton-upon-Trent has been summonsed to court to face charges of driving without a licence, driving without insurance and for using a vehicle in a dangerous condition.
