A woman in her 80s suffered potentially life-changing injuries in a crash in Devon, police have said.

Officers were called to reports of a collision between a car and a mobility scooter on Exeter Road in Dawlish at about 11:55 GMT on Wednesday.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the woman was taken to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, following the crash.

Officers said the driver of the car was not injured.

Police said: "The road has been closed in both directions. It is expected to be reopened this evening.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road is closed."
