Driver dies in two-car Christmas Day crash

A woman died and another driver was seriously injured in a crash on Christmas Day.

The 61-year-old woman's Mini Cooper and a Peugeot 208 collided on the A338 near East Hanney, Oxfordshire, at about 11:15 GMT.

Police said the Peugeot driver, a man aged in his 30s, had suffered "life-changing injuries" and remained in hospital.

The road was closed between the A415 and A417 for several hours.

A man in his 50s, who was a passenger in the Mini, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

Det Con Nigel Doyle said: “Tragically, a woman has died and a man has suffered life-changing injuries following this collision on Christmas Day.

“I am appealing for anyone that witnessed the collision, or saw the cars involved prior to it, to contact us."
