Sussex Police is investigating reports of an attempted motorbike robbery in Goring.

Officers were called to Goring Road at 15:15 BST on Friday following reports three three people had been threatening the motorbike owner with screwdrivers and a crowbar.

Police said footage of the attempted robbery had been circulated online, but no property was stolen and no injuries were reported.

Ch Insp James Davidson said: “This incident is understandably concerning for the community but I’d like to reassure the public that these types of incidents are rare and an increased police presence should be expected in the area.

“Officers were swiftly on the scene and our teams are working hard to identify and locate those involved."

Ch Insp Davidson said he was aware footage had been circulating online but reminded people "this is a live investigation".

He added: "Please refrain from sharing or speculating online about anything that could prejudice criminal proceedings.”
