A cyclist has died after coming off his bike on a west Cumbria road, police said.

Emergency services were called just after 09:50 BST to initial reports of a crash between a car and a cyclist on the A595 at Winscales, near Workington.

However, Cumbria Police said no collision had occurred and it was believed the man, aged in his 50s, had fallen from his bike.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
