Family have paid tribute to an "amazing" father and husband who died after being hit by a car in Kenilworth.

Jake Powell, 30, died in hospital following the collision, which happened on Leamington Road at 20:08 GMT on Sunday, said Warwickshire Police.

He was described by his loved ones as someone who "always put others before himself".

A 39-year-old man has been charged with driving a motor vehicle while over the alcohol limit, and has been bailed to appear at Warwickshire Magistrates' Court on 19 November.

A tribute from his family, given to Warwickshire Police, said Mr Powell used his "passion" for running to raise money and awareness for the Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA) in honour of his youngest son.

It said: "Jake was the most amazing father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He lived his life putting others before himself always and intentionally loving everyone he met and knew.

"He had energy abounding and used it to bring joy and fun to all around him. To begin to even try to comprehend a life with Jake no longer with us is near impossible, and we will all miss him more than words can describe.

"We take what comfort we can in the knowledge he is now at peace with his Heavenly Father in Heaven."

Officers said they are continuing their investigation into the crash and asked for anyone with dashcam footage or witnesses to the crash to come forward.
