Rushcliffe Borough Council said Bridgford Park play area would receive new "modern and inclusive" equipment

A play area has closed so new "modern and inclusive" equipment can be installed.

Rushcliffe Borough Council said the "vital refurbishments" at Bridgford Park, in West Bridgford, would mean partial and, "at times", full closure for the play area from Monday.

New play equipment will include seesaws, wheelchair-accessible roundabouts and other improvements.

Hoping to complete the works before the February half-term, the authority said revamps were also set to take place at Bridge Field Park and West Park in West Bridgford in due course.

'For all families'

The refurbishments follow the results of a survey conducted by the council, where residents shared their views on what they wanted to see in their local parks.

Before the work began at Bridgford Park, Councillor Jonathan Wheeler said: "We're proud to invest in our parks, and it's great news that work is starting on one of our most popular sites, Bridgford Park.

"It will welcome accessible equipment, such as the wheelchair-friendly roundabouts and inclusive seesaws, that are important to help ensure all children, regardless of their abilities, can enjoy our play parks.

"Our investment in community play facilities, such as these, demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents and visitors, and will ensure our play park continues to be fantastic for all families to enjoy."
