A woman requires eye surgery after being assaulted twice in four days by a stranger, police said.

Gloucestershire Police have released an e-fit of a man they wish to identify in connection with the attacks in Abbeymead.

The first incident was at 13:00 GMT on 13 April on Pippin Close and the second more serious assault was on 16 April at 10:15 on James Grieve Road.

The man police wish to trace is described as white, aged in his 60s, with a stocky build and short grey hair.

Police said he spoke with a local accent, was wearing a blue top and black jeans, and was carrying a rucksack during both incidents.

A spokesperson said on 13 April the woman was approached by a man who verbally abused her and tried to hit her, but she was able to avoid the attack.

On 16 April the same man approached the same victim from behind and struck her in the face with an unknown item causing an injury to her eye.

On the second occasion, the suspect was with a younger man, described as being in his 30s and wearing a hat and face covering.

Anyone who recognises the man or who has information about the incidents is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police
