Police cordons remain in place at a village home following the death of a girl.

The girl died on Tuesday at an address in Middle Street, Islip, Oxfordshire.

Thames Valley Police has not yet confirmed the girl's age and say her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The force said an increased police presence in the area could be expected while the investigation was carried out.

Following the death on Tuesday Det Ch Insp Sally Spencer said: "We understand this investigation will be concerning for the community, but we believe this incident to be contained and are not aware of any threat to the wider public at this time."

"We have launched a homicide investigation, but we are still in the early stages and will provide more details as soon as we are able to," she added.

Anyone with information or camera footage from Middle Street is being urged to come forward.
