A woman and child suffered serious injuries when their car flipped onto its roof during a crash in Staffordshire.

The silver Mercedes overturned on the A50, between Blythe Bridge and Uttoxeter, shortly before 22:00 BST on Monday.

The injured pair were taken to hospital, West Midlands Ambulance Service said, along with a second woman whose injuries were not believed to be serious.

The road was closed eastbound for about nine hours for police investigation work to be carried out. National Highways confirmed it reopened at about 07:30 BST on Tuesday.

Staffordshire Police has urged anyone with information, including dashcam or CCTV footage, to get in touch.
