The "last piece of the jigsaw" in the regeneration of Gloucester's Docks has gone on sale.

Mould designer and manufacturer Numold is looking to sell its property there after 30 years.

The company hopes to relocate to "a site more suitable for manufacturing" as the area around it has been developed into Gloucester Quays, a thriving retail area.

It is currently based next to Pillar and Lucy House on Merchants Road, opposite Cineworld and Five Guys.

A Numold spokesperson said the site is already attracting interest.

"It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as it is the last piece of freehold in this magnificent location, with the historic Llanthony Priory on the other side of the canal,” they said.

“Due to the excellent work Peel developments have done in the surrounding area it could be the jewel in crown of the waterside living area.

“The neighbouring Development was granted permission for a landmark 10-storey building with 117 apartments, called Downings Tower and the surrounding derelict Baker’s Quay buildings will also be brought back to life."

There has been manufacturing on the site since the 1850s, with the canal at the heart of it, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Numold produces specialist moulds for wet cast concrete and sells to more than 40 countries worldwide.

Owner of the company, Sue Jones, said: “It will be interesting to see who will make this prime location something Gloucester will be proud of, perhaps a boutique hotel with waterfront restaurant and apartments with balconies with the beautiful sunsets over Llanthony Priory.

"Watch this space," she added.
