There are now two protection zones in place in Norfolk

Another case of avian influenza, also known as bird flu, has been reported in Norfolk.

The highly pathogenic virus was confirmed at a premises, external at Snettisham, near Hunstanton, on Sunday.

A 3km (1.8 mile) captive bird monitoring controlled zone was put in place around the site.

It takes the current number of controlled zones in the county to two, after a suspected case was reported at a premises near Loddon in January.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) said the affected birds would now be culled.

A wider protection zone, inside which all bird keepers must keep their flocks indoors, has also been extended to Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The risk to humans remained low, with chicken and eggs safe to eat if properly cooked, Defra said.
