Tributes to 'true outdoorsman' killed in crash

Tributes have been paid to a "true outdoorsman" and "besotted" grandfather who was killed in a crash.
Mark Lucas, 64, died when his black Ford Ranger pick-up truck was involved in a collision with a tractor and lorry on Watling Street in Weeford, Staffordshire, shortly before 17:00 GMT on 19 December.
The drivers of the tractor and lorry were not injured in the crash and both stopped at the scene, Staffordshire Police said.
In a tribute to Mr Lucas, who lived in Shropshire, his family described him as a beloved husband, devoted father and "besotted grandpa" who was dedicated to his family and friends.
"He was a true outdoorsman, he had a thirst for adventure and was never happier than with his family on his boat, exploring in his Land Rover or out shooting in the fields," they said.
"Always the first to help others, Mark will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and endless optimism that was infectious to all that knew him.
"The void that he leaves behind in our lives is too vast to put into words and too deep to ever be filled. We will always miss him."
Police have urged anyone who saw the vehicles involved in the incident or who might have dashcam footage to contact them.
