£20,000 reward to find who stabbed police officer

A £20,000 reward has been offered in the hunt for an attacker who stabbed a female police officer in North Ayrshire last month.

The 30-year-old officer was attacked when three officers were investigating a break-in on Arthur Street, Stevenston, in the early hours of 18 October.

Ayshire's police chief called the assault "despicable" and said inquiries were ongoing to find the person responsible.

The Crimestoppers charity has offered the reward for information that leads to a conviction in connection with the attack.

The charity, which is independent of the police, said it guaranteed the anonymity of any individual who comes forward.

Angela Parker, national manager at Crimestoppers Scotland, said: “We understand that it can be difficult to come forward with crime information, which is why our charity is here to support anyone who wants to make a difference, but feels unable to speak directly to law enforcement."
