Murder charge after man and dog found dead in house

A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder after a man and a dog were found dead with multiple stab wounds.
Armed police attended a house in Valley Road in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, at 20:45 BST on Wednesday after reports of a stabbing.
Christopher Owen, 57, was found with a number of stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, alongside a Jack Russell that had also been stabbed, Derbyshire Police said.
On Friday, the force said Logan Procter, of Valley Road in Shirebrook, had been charged with murder. He was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
Mr Procter was also charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal in relation to the death of the dog.
Police said officers had been conducting house-to-house inquiries since Wednesday, while Mr Owen's family were being supported by specialist officers.
