Children's home set for approval despite concerns

Plans for a house to be converted into a children's home are set to be approved, despite objections from people nearby.
The home in Donnington, Telford, would house two young people aged between seven and 17, with two carers on shift at all times and a manager during the day.
Neighbours have expressed concerns about extra traffic and parking, and claimed that the street of mainly elderly neighbours was not a suitable setting.
Telford and Wrekin Council's planning committee will discuss the plans on Wednesday.
Donnington and Muxton Parish Council has also raised objections, saying that the home was on a bend on a single-track road, and that bungalows should be kept on the open market because of a shortage of that housing type.
A planning report to councillors pointed out that the home is on two storeys, so would not be classed as a bungalow.
Highways officials said they supported the proposal, as long as promised parking spaces were delivered on the site.
Officers also said that the house could cause just as much traffic if it remained a private dwelling.
The report recommended that the plans be approved subject to conditions.
