Passenger seriously injured in city crash

A man suffered serious injuries after the car he was a passenger in crashed on a busy route in Leicester.

Police said they were called to reports of the single vehicle crash on St Georges Way in the city at about 20:45 GMT on Thursday.

The injured passenger, who was sitting in the rear of the red BYD Atto, remains in hospital in a serious condition.

Another passenger and the driver of the vehicle suffered only minor injuries.

Leicestershire Police said no arrests had been made following the crash, but appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

The road was closed to allow detectives to investigate the scene.
